Sacred Care & Maintenance Guide

Honoring the Longevity of Your Devotional Pieces

Every Thangka, sacred statue, and hand-knotted mala is more than an object—it is a living vessel of energy, culture, and timeless craft. With proper care, these heritage pieces will develop a personal aura and age beautifully alongside your spiritual journey. Here is how to reverence and preserve them.

1. Sacred Statues (Buddha & Deities)

Our statues are cast and hand-finished with honest materials meant to ground your space. To preserve their physical presence and sacred energy:

  • Placement: Display your statue in an elevated, respectful environment. Avoid direct, prolonged sunlight or areas with high humidity (such as bathrooms).

  • Cleansing: To remove dust, use a dedicated, ultra-soft microfiber cloth or a clean, soft-bristled brush. Never use chemical cleaners, alcohol, or abrasive materials, as these will strip the hand-finished patina.

  • Anointing (Optional): If your tradition involves anointing, use only a tiny drop of pure, natural sandalwood or organic oil on a cloth. Rub gently to enhance the natural luster of metals and sacred woods.

2. Sacred Thangkas (Sacred Paint)

A true Thangka is brushed with powdered gemstones and natural mineral pigments. It is a delicate masterpiece that breathes:

  • The Rule of Moisture: Mineral colors are sensitive to moisture. Never wipe a Thangka with a wet cloth or spray water near it.

  • Displaying: Hang your Thangka away from damp walls and direct air vents. If displaying without a glass frame, ensure it hangs in a calm space where it won't be constantly touched or disturbed by heavy drafts.

  • Storage: If you need to store your Thangka, cover the painted face with its silk veil (if provided) or a piece of acid-free tissue paper, and roll it from the bottom up around the wooden dowel. Store it in its protective tube in a dry place.

3. Hand-Knotted Malas & Necklaces

Crafted from sustainably harvested sacred woods (such as sandalwood and agarwood) and genuine gemstones, your jewelry interacts directly with your personal energy:

  • The Patina of Devotion: Sacred woods absorb the natural oils from your skin over time. The more you wear and meditate with them, the more they will develop a deep, beautiful, and smooth luster (Patina).

  • Water & Elements: Remove your mala before showering, swimming, or washing dishes. Prolonged exposure to water can weaken the hand-knotted cords and cause natural woods to swell or crack.

  • Resting Place: When not being worn, place your mala on your personal altar, inside its silk pouch, or in a respectful, clean space. This allows the materials to rest and maintains the clean energy of the beads.

4. Packing & Moving

If you are moving or transporting your sacred pieces, treat them with intentional care. Wrap each piece individually in soft cloth or high-density protective material. Always wrap statues fully and transport them upright if possible, ensuring they are cushioned against impact.

A Mindful Reminder: > As time passes, minor changes in the texture of wood or the hue of minerals are natural signs of an authentic, organic object tasting the environment. Embrace these marks of time—they are the story of your piece growing older, and wiser, with you.
